The Crosby Collective

The Crosby Collective is an impact first community space set up in a disused library in the post-industrial town of Scunthorpe. Falling victim to a detrimental series of mass job cuts from the Steel Works in its 1980’s privatisation, the town has continued to see issues around unemployment, crime and drug use. Unlike its local cities, such as Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, Scunthorpe has not seen regeneration to the level experienced in more built up urban centres and is often seen as ‘a town that people leave’. Tyrone Curran, the community hub leader at The Crosby Collective had other ideas, and his vision to bring people from all walks of life together in a space that marries creativity, skills building with support and socializing has created a safe haven of lasting impact on those who continue to use it.
