Remaking the Wild Episode Three - Thameside Nature Discovery Park

Remaking the Wild
S01E03

Thameside Nature Discovery Park - Essex Wildlife Trust

Thameside Nature Discovery Park is a former landfill site on the banks of the River Thames. Since the site was capped off in 2010 with no more waste coming in, its been allowed to develop at its own speed with relatively little human involvement.

Essex Wildlife Trust, who manage the site see themselves as a demonstrator of what can be done with brownfield and former landfill sites and are setting themselves up as a beacon to show how everyone can benefit from these kinds of spaces and what having access to nature can provide.

Thameside Nature Discovery Park provides the opportunity not just to connect with nature but to see conservation happening. It isn't just a paper exercise, it's a real world example of reclamation in action.
